I’m Passionate About Helping Clients Reach Their Goals

“Things I know about healing: When you want to run, stay. When you want to hide, open up. When you think you’re done, go a little further.” –  Unknown

I’ve always been curious about the human condition. Not only have I spent my life pondering what makes each of us tick, but my own experiences with therapy have also informed how I approach my practice. Throughout my healing journey, I have benefitted from therapists who held space for me when others in my life could not. Now that therapy has come full circle for me, I want to do the same for my clients.

I understand first-hand how working with the right therapist can provide valuable perspective. It helps us discover who we are and what we want to accomplish in life. Therapy offers hope by instilling an unwavering belief that we are each capable of overcoming our circumstances.

I Put Being Human In Front Of Being A Therapist

In my experience, the corrective relationship formed between therapist and client comes first. Even if the therapist has trained in numerous psychotherapy modalities, if they haven’t established an authentic connection with their client, therapy falls short.

As important as identifying the problem and finding the right solution is, I place equal value on helping clients access joy and define their dreams. Ensuring that clients tap into pleasure while simultaneously working on their issues allows them to develop the resiliency to withstand more difficult moments. In both my life and in counseling, I believe that envisioning a clear picture of where you want to be and then working on the issues preventing you from getting there creates a highly individualized plan for success.

My Specialty Is Helping Clients Come To Terms With Trauma

Unresolved trauma that occurs in childhood often creates roadblocks in adulthood. The core beliefs that were instilled in us at an early age are what keep us stuck repeating old patterns again and again. Partnering with a therapist you trust helps shed light on what is holding you back, making room for new possibilities.

Through personal experience, I understand that trauma can be complicated and multi-layered, requiring more creative ways of healing. Utilizing such modalities as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) provides clients with a framework to identify what’s most important to them as well as discover a deeper understanding and self-compassion for the way they have handled trauma in their lives.

Additionally, I specialize in women’s issues related to pregnancy, abortion, perinatal loss, Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs), and birth trauma. With my knowledge and experience both as a mother and certified full-spectrum doula, I am keenly aware that when we give birth to children, we also give birth to an entirely new identity.

My Practice

I believe each of us holds the answers to our challenges within ourselves but sometimes our life circumstances make this wisdom difficult to access. As a therapist, it’s my job to help clients clear away the obstacles and confusion that keep them from living the life they truly desire.

The work we do in therapy isn’t always easy but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate our wins and get creative. I enjoy thinking outside of the box and bringing elements into therapy that allow clients to express themselves on a deeper level that connects them to their inner knowing. This could take the form of art, journaling, or somatic exercises that attune mind and body, such as tai chi or body scanning.

After experiencing my own healing, I feel honored to be on the other side of the couch, witnessing the vulnerability it takes for clients to tap into their true potential. I’m not the type of therapist who sugarcoats things or pretends there are always easy answers to life’s problems. However, I care deeply about my client’s well-being and can promise my commitment to their healing.

A Little More About Me

I am a single mom to both a teenager and a toddler. Although it’s a lot to handle at once, it also brings so much joy to my life. I spent the first part of my life trying to be the person I thought I should be. Once I realized I would only succeed by being completely authentic, I crafted a life that suited my needs rather than bending to meet someone else’s idea of happiness. Creating a life that revolves around my own values and desires has brought me immeasurable satisfaction.

I am an artist who works in photography, ceramics, and mixed media. It’s fun to get messy with my little one, either when painting at home, playing in the sand at the beach, or jumping in mud puddles. When I’m not watching one of his baseball games, my older son and I love going to see live music together. I am a city girl at heart who loves to explore Chicago’s neighborhoods, and I am always on the hunt for new murals and pop-ups. Adventure and newness are my passions, whether finding similarities with strangers or traveling and being immersed in new cultures.
