Message From Yvette

Therapeutic Alliance

A solid therapeutic relationship with clients is an essential component of successful therapy. I focus on communicating authentic warmth, empathy and positive regard to build this relationship.

My top priority is establishing a compassionate and nurturing alliance with my clients, so they feel heard, supported, accepted and share concerns without hesitation.

One of the best ways to establish a strong therapeutic relationship is to ensure that the therapist understands the client's goals and expectations.

I work closely with my clients to determine what is important and how they will know whether therapy is beneficial or not. Apart from this, I encourage collaboration from both sides to develop a personalized plan to help my clients to reach their goals.

Approach

I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness and positive psychology to help my clients discover how their thoughts, behaviors and emotions interact and ultimately impact their life.

CBT is an evidence-based clinical practice that has been proven to bring about change in children, teens and adults. Moreover, it is an effective treatment for mood disorders. I assist clients in analyzing and adjusting their thoughts as well as behavioral patterns. Plus, I teach valuable coping skills to alleviate symptoms of distress.

Love the life you live.

Areas of Interest

I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing adjustment difficulties due to life transitions and mood disorders such as anxiety and depression.

The pandemic has affected everyone, and as a result, many children, families and adults are struggling emotionally. This may present in the form of behavioral difficulties related to home, school or career. I work with clients to eliminate self-defeating thoughts and improve problem-solving, self-esteem, and self-control.

I have also worked with adults throughout my career who are affected by anticipatory grief, bereavement, loss, and caregiver burnout. In addition, I guide my clients on how to use cognitive restructuring to process loss and associated grief.
