As a bi-lingual Family Therapist I specialize in working with couples and families to promote deeper understanding and to enhance communication between all. I enjoy working with couples to improve the quality of their relationship, teaching effective communication skills that deepen their connection that improve intimacy and friendship.
When working with families Ianka carefully builds rapport with each member. She collaboratively sets goals that build a better understanding a respect for one another. She has experience working with families who present with parent-child conflict, traumatic events, life transitions, grief and loss, aging parents, separation and divorce.
Her experience in working with couples ranges from young engaged couples looking to prepare themselves for marriage, newly married couples transitioning to parenthood, those who struggle with the pain of betrayal, challenges of transitioning children to adulthood and empty nesters who are redefining their relationship.

Family is very important to Ianka. She understands how painful it is when family relationships become strained, misunderstood, detached and disconnected. She is passionate about helping family members work through the pain of traumatic events, develop effective ways of communicating to promote an emotional safe environment for all.
In addition to providing family and couples therapy, Ianka has extensive experience in working with all members of the family. She enjoys working with tweens, teens, young adults and older adults struggling with relational distress, anxiety related issues, situational depression, mood disorders, life transitions, women’s issues, PTSD, grief, loss and separation and divorce.


Family Counselor Background
Ianka is an Associate Licensed Couples, Marriage and Family Therapist (ALMFT). She received her Master’s degree from Walden University where her focus was on Couples and Family therapy. She is trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution – Focus Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy and Mindfulness. She practices these evidence-based approaches to help her clients based on their unique needs.
Ianka also loves to contribute to her community. She volunteers with the Parent Teacher Association fundraiser events for the Gurnee Community School District. She also volunteers at local community churches, The National Child Traumatic Stress Network, and The American Red Cross as a Disaster Mental Health Volunteer. She holds a certificate as a Psychological First Aid Responder and is the first one called to counsel the needs of individuals impacted by the incident.
She’s a member of the American Counseling Association and the National Society of Leadership and Success. For three consecutive years she received an award for her leadership and outstanding achievements while obtaining her Masters’ degree.
In her free time Ianka enjoys cycling, cooking, the arts, reading, family outings, sports events, and meeting new people.
